The Raspberry Pi Power over Ethernet HAT is a compact accessory designed to simplify power delivery for the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+. By leveraging the 802.3af PoE standard, this HAT allows the Raspberry Pi to receive power directly through its Ethernet connection, eliminating the need for a separate power adapter. This is particularly beneficial in installations where power outlets are scarce or managing multiple power cables is cumbersome, requiring an 802.3af compliant power-sourcing equipment on the network.
This HAT connects seamlessly to both the 40-way GPIO header and the dedicated 4-pin PoE header on the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+. It incorporates a fully isolated switched-mode power supply, ensuring stable and efficient 5V output at up to 2.5A. A key feature is the pre-installed 25mm brushless fan, which is intelligently controlled via an I2C-enabled ATMEL processor.
